"I love the soft qualities that can only be made by pencil. The act of drawing is like a performance, every time I sketch something, it's slightly different. I like the mistakes that can only be made a human hand. I enjoy the subtle marks made by variation of line width and by different pressures put on the pencil. The end result has ‘character', which is important when I'm capturing and portraying human character in my subjects." |
